Home Automation - Standard in Pre-Fab Houses

'Safewood Ltd' (www.safewood.com) is a Finnish company producing pre-fabricated houses of glue-laminated timber. The Safewood houses are aimed to be the market leaders in energy savings.

The supporting structures of the Safewood houses are made completely from glue-laminated timber. The house is strong while it is made of environmentally friendly materials.

'Our target was to lessen the energy consumption of the building to meet the new 'low-energy' standards, while maintaining an attractive price level.' said Mr. Harri Tepponen from Safewood Ltd. 'On the other hand, we wanted to reduce the quantity of cables to the minimum. The installation of pipes required by the electrification is expensive for us, as we use glue-laminated timber in both inner and outer walls of the building.'

'The 'Aptus Domestic Control System' was a perfect choice for us. The computer controlled heating system saves energy up to 20% compared to thermostat control, which in conjunction with our excellent thermal insulation makes our product the lowest energy consumer in the marketplace. At the same time we save money in the production, because the system is simpler to install than traditional electrification is.'

The Aptus system is a standard feature in all Safewood pre-fabricated houses. The system is completely installed and configured at the factory, and no setting-up at the building site is required.

The Aptus system is based on Linet network components.
